We went on a trip to Victoria, British Columbia for my birthday, and our hotel room balcony directly overlooked this busy little marina. I thought this perspective would make an interesting painting and I fell in LOVE with the little yellow bumblebee boat taxis that were painted to look like yellow city car cabs. I did find it very time-consuming to get all the skinny lines right and to paint all the small details on the boats. But I was painting this during the COVID lockdown, so it was good to work on something that demanded total concentration!
