I took photos for this painting on my birthday last summer, on a trip to Victoria, BC. My husband and I were having breakfast at an amazing diner called the Blue Fox Café, and, as always, it was the light coming through the windows that caught my attention. I took about 20 pictures of this group of friends ordering and eating breakfast, and I'm pretty sure they had no idea. I-phones are great; I would have looked much more obvious (and weird) if I was taking the photos with my big camera!
I changed some colors to make a red/yellow/blue triad color scheme, which I always love and which feels strong and solid to me. I didn't do a first layer of random color on this one because I thought having colors in the "whites" might confuse the images of the glasses on the table. There are lots of little shapes in there and I needed them to stand out against the white.
The name comes from the movie, When Harry Met Sally. It was suggested by two friends: John Sterne and Del Lunde. It made me laugh!
